Many people want to know what goes into the products they use today. At SageWork Organics, we’re an open book about this. We use natural ingredients, and ones that have a long history of healing. 

The salve contains Arnica which is a common herb used for inflammation and pain of the soft tissue. It helps to speed up recovery after an injury. It also helps relieve chronic pain that is related to poor circulation or inflammation.

It also contains Comfrey which is nicknamed "Bone Mend" because of its healing properties and ability to speed the recovery of broken bones, torn ligaments, pulled muscles, and minor scrapes and cuts. This amazing herb speeds up the metabolic rates of cells which allows them to multiply faster and heal the tissues at a very fast pace. It is meant for minor scrapes or cuts, but not for deep, open wounds. 

Chaparral is also in this salve, and this herb is both an antiseptic and a well known anti-inflammatory. It has been used for thousands of years by the Native American population in conjunction with Comfrey to speed recovery of broken bones and wounds. It has also been used traditionally by Mexican and Hispanic herbalists (curanderos) to treat other skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It has an amazing ability to soothe inflamed skin and penetrates deeply into the tissues.

Another set of ingredients are Menthol and Camphor which are a well known analgesic (pain reliever) combination for minor aches and pains.

Our proprietary blend of therapeutic quality Essential Oils also reduce pain and inflammation, as well as help to keep the applied area free from infection.

The salve also contains Beeswax which is also a known antimicrobial substance that helps to both create a moisture barrier and acts as a slow penetrating substance that allows the herbs and oils to slowly absorb and do their healing over time.

How the Spectacular Ache Away Salve came to be 

We developed the Spectacular Ache Away Salve in response to a friend and employee who sprained his ankle while carrying a 100 pound desk down a flight of stairs. He missed the last two steps and also partially tore a ligament. 

Michael, Master Herbalist at SageWork Organics, quickly combined herbs, essential oils and made it into a soft salve recipe to provide immediate relief. It worked so well that the employee was able to finish his fully scheduled day of clients. With this salve and a brace, he was able to walk on his foot as needed. The swelling and bruising went away in just a few days and he was healed completely in 2.5 weeks. 

After this proved so effective, we made more and gave it to family members to test. These family members have arthritis and bruising due to aging skin - as is common - and in all cases the salve helped or sped up the healing process. 

This is how we start with most of our products, as a healing mixture to specific problems. All of our products are gifted to family and friends, tested by ourselves and them, and only after they show healing properties, do we make batches that we eventually sell. 

How to use Spectacular Ache Away Salve for pain relief and healing 

For pain relief and healing of minor injuries, this product should be applied 2-3 times daily or as needed when pain starts to come back. If symptoms do not reduce after 2-3 applications or if symptoms worsen, stop use and seek proper medical attention.

People should use this salve for minor wound care (minor cuts and scrapes), broken bones, bruises, arthritis, eczema, and any other inflammatory issues in specific areas of the body. Clean the area with a disinfectant before use. For external use only. 

It is not recommended for use on open deep wounds. Women who are breastfeeding should not use this product because it includes comfrey whose active constituents contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids that can cause liver damage if consumed internally. Extra precaution should be taken to avoid exposure to infants.

Make sure to test this out before using it fully. Apply a small amount to a test area, such as in the fold of arm or at your wrist to test for a negative reaction. Wait 15 minutes.
